4. How do I FTP files to the server?
3. How do I FTP files to the server?
There are many FTP programs available.
For the PC look for CyD FTP Client
(http://www.cydsoft.com/product.htm#ftpcl).
For the Macintosh look for Fetch
(http://fetchsoftworks.com/).
There are three things you must enter in your FTP program. The first thing you need is your host address . This is your IP number which you have been assigned or your domain name if it is already registered. Next you need your user name and password, this is sent to you by the tech department on setting up your account. Leave the rest of the fields blank or at the default settings.
Once you are logged into the server you will be in your Root directory. Web pages should be put in the public_html directory. Just name your first page index.html or home.html and you should be able to view your page through a browser. You can create your own directory structure from there.
